Exploring Seoul, South Korea

Korea has the best food ever. Here we are trying out some street food on the way to Gyeongbokgung Palace.

We went during the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

Matching outfits!!!

We got there just in time for the changing of the guards ceremony.

Samgyeopsal!!! I LOVE THE FOOD HERE.

Waiting in line for go up the N Seoul Tower. SO MANY LONG QUEUES HERE. It’s a tourist trap! Not much to see up there. Just the love locks and a mediocre city view. Woops! Sorry. 😛

On the bright side, I got to ride a cable car for the first time.

On the bus heading back to the hostel.

The next day my friends and I went separate ways. Explored Hongdae the next day and found a few street performers.

While I was wandering around Hongdae and taking photos, two Koreans approached me. We had a short conversation. They wanted to teach me some kind of ceremony. It’s a ceremony not practiced much in Korea anymore. Their goal was to keep it alive by teaching people about it. So I went with them. I didn’t really know where we were going but whatever.

They took me to a building, made me wear a hanbok (Korea’s traditional wear), taught me proper bowing, etc. Then I went and did the ceremony with about five other people, bowed a million times, then the Korean girl who took me there took pictures of me on her phone. She said she would email them to me, but nope! Got nothing. Too bad. But it was fun (and free) so it’s all good.

I met up with Sonia again in Hongdae. Then we went on to find Haneul Park, got lost, got cold, stayed in the restroom for god knows how long (because there’s a heater) inside, gave up on Haneul Park, went back to the hostel, had some chicken and beer on the way. The chicken was too spicy and I hate alcohol, so we didn’t finish it.
