Solo Travel #3: Plan a Trip from Start to Finish (Making a Detailed Itinerary)

This post covers everything that goes into planning a trip in detail. A plan will only guide you, because in reality, sometimes things don’t work out or something better comes along – like that time I took the wrong bus (it was the right one but went in the opposite direction lol), so I had to change my plans. This is the longest post of the Solo Travel Series, so I made a little table of contents. ๐Ÿ™‚ Why an itinerary is important The best time to go Flight prices Weather/Season Taking time off Spots to visit A general search Touristy vs. “hidden” spots What are your interests? Solo Travel #2: Where to Go? What Can You Afford? (My Personal Recommendations)

Narrow down your options based on your budget. How much money you need for a trip depends on where you are going. You have to consider: Flight prices Momondo Cebu Pacific Air AirAsia Accommodation Agoda Booking Hostel World Duration of the trip 4-6 days is a good number for first-timers To get a rough estimate of your budget, check the prices from the links above andย do the following calculations: Flight = [ticket cost] + Php850.00 terminal fee + Php1,620 travel tax Meals = 3 x [meal cost] x [number of days] Accommodation = [number of nights] x [per night cost] Take note that this doesn’t account for transportation within the…

Singapore Day 3: Haji Lane, Arab Street, National Gallery Singapore

Down to our last day in Singapore! Sad to say Pal had an early flight in the morning, so it was just Sonia and I. I think she only went to Singapore for Universal Studios, so I had to plan this day because she seemed uninterested. Hi, Son! ๐Ÿ˜› So… Google search keywords that morning always had the word “Instagrammable” in it, of course. I decided that we head to Bugis for pasalubong, then to Haji Lane, Arab Street and National Gallery Singapore.   Haji Lane Color explosion!!!!!!! So hipster. At this cafe, you can have your picture taken and printed on the seal of your drink. See sample on…

Singapore Day 2: Universal Studios, Spectra Light Show, Marina Bay

Hello to another exciting day in a new city! This is the only day when Sonia, Pal, Mimi (thanks for showing us around!) and I are all together, so it made sense to choose this day for Universal Studios. We got our day passes from Klook for ~Php2,500. The theme park opens at 10:00 AM but we were there a little later than that, which meant there were already long queues. And it was on a Saturday too. Don’t go on a weekend like we did! ๐Ÿ˜€ Before entering, we saw the Universal sign. We skipped right by it and went straight ahead to the queue. This photo was taken…

Singapore Day 1: Chinatown, Clarke Quay, Little India, Merlion Park, Gardens by the Bay

Our 4-day trip to Singapore was a little bit spontaneous. By “spontaneous”, I mean we booked it just over a month before the flight dates. Plane tickets were already expensive, around ~Php4000, but still a pretty good deal. I went on this trip with college friends, Pal and Sonia. Sonia didn’t fly to Singapore until the next day, so Pal and I had the first night and first day to ourselves.   Day 0 We arrived in Changi Airport at 8pm. First things on the agenda: get a sim card for internet and load our EZ-Link cards to be used in the MRT. Our cards were borrowed from friends who…
